BET YOUR PURSE ON WET NURSE!!!

    • "Hailing from the cultural wasteland often referred to as Central Florida, twin sisters Nina and Susana Chaplin decided in the fall of 2010 to pen poppy, poignant tunes about everything from drunken antics to cigarette lighters. Drummer Vanessa Brewster joined forces with the duo in early October to round out the rhythm section, and the rest is history. With a sound that pushes the limits of garage, punk and pop, the young band has already shared stages with the likes of garage greats Jacuzzi Boys, Heavy Cream, Thee Oh Sees and more. Fiercely DIY and undeniably catchy, their snappy, scrappy tunes will soon be infecting eardrums near you". (WET NURSE in their own words)

1) WHY DID YOU CALL YOUR BAND "WET NURSE"? (LOVE THE NAME, BTW).

Our friend Andrea was reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand at our house one night and she asked the meaning of a wet nurse. It sounded weird and had a relatively obscure / double meaning and that's why we picked it. We had been tossing around band names for a while but nothing stuck. We liked “Wet Nurse” because there’s no the, no plurals, it's just a term. People remember it.

2) HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC STYLE?

Fast & fun with extra sauce!

3) WHAT'S IN THE WORKS?

We’re gearing up for our two-week tour across our home state of Florida and it’s going to be so much fun! We’ve also got new music in the works! Our split 7" with fellow locals Lazy Boyzzz is freshly pressed, we’ve got a new 7” on Astro Girl records in the recording stages and we’re releasing a split tape with Suede Dudes and an exclusive EP for our Kickstarter supporters! ;)
Phyew! So much to do, so little time.

3) WHO WERE YOUR ICONS WHEN YOU WERE IN YOUR EARLY TEENS?

S: Kim Deal (Pixies)
N: Jack & Meg White (White Stripes), Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill / Le Tigre)

4) A MOVIE TO WATCH WITH YOUR BANDMATES
This was a hard question! There’s not just one good one to watch. We’ll get obsessed with seasons of TV shows. I guess it would be any movie we can play a drinking game to!

6) YOUR FAVORITE HANGOUT IN ORLANDO

Mills Avenue is a strip near us with a bunch of cool places. Paradise is this gay-friendly bar with cheap drink nights and all the neighborhood kids come to hang out, play pool and get wasted. There are also lots of cool eateries and music venues and there’s always something going on.

7) THE BEST SHOW YOU'VE EVER BEEN TO

S & N: We loved the Ska is Dead Tour years ago w/ Catch 22, Planet Smashers, Mustard Plug Toasters and a bunch more. We were super young and really into it.
V: Seeing the Beastie Boys at Red Rocks in Colorado with two of my best friends was probably the highlight of my life!

8) THE HOLIDAY OF YOUR DREAMS

S: Traveling with unlimited funds!
N: Any vacation is a dream vacation.
V: True! Anywhere with a beach for swimming or a mountain for snowboarding is fine with me.

9) YOUR PERFECT DAY WOULD BE...

N: Sleep in, smoke some weed, make breakfast, write a killer new song, have band practice, smoke some weed, end the night getting drunk, crash the community pool, and call it a perfect day.
S: Yes!
V: Mine isn’t quite so eventful. ;)Just a day to sleep in with my lady with no appointments or places to be would be perfect.
